About Me

At the age of 38 in April of 2009 I was diagnosed with Dercum's disease known medically by its Latin name adiposis dolorosa.  That translates to painful fat and basically that sums up this disease pretty well.

Since childhood I have had stomach issues and allergies.  At about 12 I started developing asthma. Around the same time I started menstruating and, not wanting to get into too much details, let's just say I never had it easy with any of my woman parts.

I was very active, I played sports, road my bike and walked everywhere.  At 16 I started gaining weight.  It was never that big of an issue, I looked  in clothes just couldn't get away with wearing a bikini :)

This is me at about 40 years old
My anxiety and depression came into play on and off since I was 12 as well.  I remember one day sitting at my aunt's house and everybody just running around doing their daily chores and such and I sat curled in a chair watching everyone.  Without me even knowing, I started crying, silently at first and then full out sobbing.  My cousins, aunt and uncle just stopped and tried to console me.  I couldn't explain what I was feeling.  I just knew there was something wrong with me.

Months later, I moved out of my parents house and lived 8 months with my aunt's family.  I learned  a lot in those months.

I work full time for Advantage Sales and Marketing on their largest client, Unilever.  No matter how much I complain, I actually like my job.  I am currently an Administrative Team Leader for the Northeast but that will be changing soon (hopefully).
